A leader who transforms communities and organizations from one culture to another, such as the industrial age to the information age. A transformational leader is someone who is transforming a co-dependent family into one of healthy relationships or someone who has transformed herself from one state of being to another. All of us can and do experience this type of leadership.

Transformation is a basic part of the human experience and is recorded in myth, fairy tale, the Bible, and in song. In fact, most of the stories in the Bible are transformational stories — the before and after as a result of an experience. In myth, Mother Nature transforms her planet from one season to another; in fairy tales, Prince Charming is transformed from frog to prince; in the Bible, Christ is transformed from death to life anew. Transforming ourselves is how we grow; it is how we enter a new state of being that we thought not possible, or could not even conceive of, before the transformation.

The transformational leader is the one who not only transforms others by seeing what they had not seen before, but also, are willing to be transformed themselves. To paraphrase Steven Covey, the transformational leader transforms him/herself from:

Hero to Developer

Commander to Consultant

Order Giver to Mentor

Decision Maker to Value Clarifier

All Powerful to Sharing Power

Confrontational to Collaborative

Note a major difference in management style here: a controlling manager can be referred to as the “buffalo.” The settlers knew that if you killed the head buffalo, the herd would stand around pawing at the ground waiting for someone to tell them what to do. On the other hand, the geese culture is one with shared leadership, with each goose taking a turn at the lead. It is the transformational leader who can transform buffalo to geese.

The transformational leader also notes and responds to the trends that are reshaping the environment and culture. In addition to orchestrating the trend, the transformation leader can decide if a counter trend needs to be developed; for example, the leaders of the conservation movement are countering the trend of wasting the earth’s resources.

Transformation can occur at many different levels: From individual behavioral trends, to conversion of institutions from “I” to team management, to the transfiguration of society’s culture. For the transformational leader to create social change, it is important to understand our cultural heritage, as well as the trends that are driving us beyond the next century.

So, who do you think you are? The frog? The princess? The buffalo? Or the transformational leader? Transforming yourself, your business, your community, the world itself, requires an understanding of our true essence. If you are an eagle, but believe you are a chicken, you will never fly out of the barnyard. And although the barnyard may be safe and secure, to experience who we really are means choosing to leave the safety of what we have always known to experience who we can be and who we may become by challenging ourselves. Choosing to be the eagle is truly a transformation: A transformation from who we thought we were to who and what we really are.

Our children are always asking for our approval. All of us desire to be noticed and applauded for our efforts and accomplishments. Yet, as human beings, we are not very adept at giving or receiving loving acknowledgment.

Acknowledgment is a skill that can be practiced and grown. We have the thoughts (such as, “I should send John a thank you for that extra effort”) and then we don’t act on our good intentions. Or many times we don’t recognize the efforts of others because “we expect rather than accept, so we are always disappointed” in what the other person has done or not done. We put conditions on the outcome and do not reward the attempt to satisfy our desired requests. Our children, our spouses, or employees never feel good enough as their efforts go unnoticed. Acknowledgment is an interesting phenomenon. When you start acknowledging others it gives them permission to acknowledge you. This spreads a more positive attitude of mutual respect, and collaboration is more likely to occur. You have heard the saying “God does not make junk.” In other words, we need to look at people as though they are an awesome creation of God and find those times that they are acting in that powerful, beautiful or awesome way and acknowledge them for it. It will reinforce the behavior that you want to see. Criticism is a negative affirmation that predicts failure and only reinforces the unwanted behavior.

Leo Buscaglia, the author of many books on loving relationships, related this incident: “Several years ago I was teaching my Love Class; we decided to attempt an assignment. We agreed to approach those people in our lives that we valued and loved and express verbally that we “truly loved and appreciated them.” We found that what appeared on the surface to be a simple, natural thing was rather more difficult than what we had imagined. Most of the students were lovingly tongue-tied. Several never completed the assignment. When we discussed and shared our experiences we agreed that it was strange indeed that so many people found it threatening to communicate love! It then became obvious why we hear the voice of love so seldom and when it is heard, it is spoken softly, so shyly. This is true even though we have learned that unexpressed love is the greatest cause of our sorrow and our regrets. We usually wait until people have died to express their value in our lives, to honor them publicly and to express our love for them.” Buscaglia’s class assignment demonstrates that we must give up our fear of being vulnerable and express our appreciation for each other. It is through acknowledgment that you can bring love into your world. Look for the opportunity to give the gift of a positive affirmation; it will make a difference in all or your relationships.

We must also learn to acknowledge and appreciate ourselves. It is OK to bask in the glory of our creation and buy Ralista online give ourselves acknowledgment. We can even ask for what we want. We can ask another to acknowledge us for what it is that we have done or created. We can ask for the recognition that we so earnestly desire. What would be wrong with going up to the boss and asking to be commended for accomplishing a major project? More that likely, he/she has noticed, but, did not say anything. Children have no trouble asking to have their needs met, but as grow up, we fear being vulnerable, stop asking for what we need, and assume that other people know what we need and when we need it. We have a scarcity mentality, thinking there isn’t enough for me, so we live in emotional poverty, not getting our emotional needs met.

When you acknowledge others, guess what happens? People like to be around you. You’ll have more friendly relationships. You will be known as generous. Those who can give acknowledgment and encouragement are growing the self-esteem and self-confidence of others. How we receive acknowledgment is another matter. We have a hard time letting in the good stuff and we discount or diminish the other person’s gift, saying things like: “this old thing,” “it wasn’t much really,” “anybody could have done it.” And what do you think we could say instead? What gives honor to the one who has acted out their kind, loving and generous thought of recognition? How about a simple, no explanation “thank you”.

I have had some troubles with my knees and was told that I needed to have knee replacement surgery on both of my legs. I am not one to give in easy and I was determined to find an alternative. While attending a Longevity Conference in Royal Oak with longevity expert David Wolfe, I had the opportunity to talk with David and asked him if there was an alternative to such invasive and drastic measures. His response was yes! He told me about a process called prolotherapy and he thought that there was someone in Michigan who does this healing modality. Well, I found three and chose the doctor in East Lansing. His name is Dr. Pawsat, and his practice is The Center for Optimal Health.

I have had three of these treatments and my legs are healing and I am gaining strength every day. I would like to share with you a little bit about this process. Many athletes are using this process and my hope is that you or someone that you care about may be able to avoid surgery as well.

The treatment is useful for many different types of musculoskeletal pain, including arthritis, back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, sports injuries, unresolved whiplash injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic tendonitis, partially torn tendons, ligaments and cartilage, degenerated or herniated discs, TMJ and sciatica.

First, it is important to understand what the word prolotherapy itself means. “Prolo” is short for proliferation, because the treatment causes the proliferation (growth, formation) of new ligament tissue in areas where it has become weak.

Ligaments are the structural “rubber bands” that hold bones to bones in joints. Ligaments can become weak or injured and may not heal back to their original strength or endurance. This is largely because the blood supply to ligaments is limited, and therefore healing is slow and not always complete. To further complicate this, ligaments also have many nerve endings and therefore the person will feel pain at the areas where the ligaments are damaged or loose.

Tendons are the name given to tissue which connects muscles to bones, and in the same manner tendons may also become injured, and cause pain.

Prolotherapy uses a dextrose (sugar water) solution, which is injected into the ligament or tendon where it attaches to the bone. This causes a localized inflammation in these weak areas, which then increases the blood supply, and flows of nutrients and stimulates the tissue to repair itself.

Historical review shows that Hippocrates first used a version of this technique on soldiers with dislocated, torn shoulder joints. He would stick a hot poker into the joint, and it would then miraculously heal normally. Of course, we don’t use hot pokers today, but the principle is similar—get the body to repair itself, an innate ability that the body has.

The response to treatment varies from individual to individual, and depends upon one’s healing ability. Some people may only need a few treatments while others may need 10 or more. buy Gasex online The average number of treatments is 4-6 for an area treated. The best thing to do is get an evaluation by a trained physician to see if you are an appropriate candidate. Once you begin treatment, your doctor can tell better how you are responding and give you an accurate estimate (This information was gathered from www. prolotherapy.com).

Just think of the millions of dollars spent on joint replacement surgery, when there is an alternative that is safer and wiser. Pass this along to someone that you know who is having joint pain and going down the surgery path. Not everyone is willing to try the new and different, but you can surely give it a try.
