Johanne’s Book
E=MC2 Relative to Business:
How Would Albert Einstein Run a Business?
A Review by New York Times Best-selling Author Ellen Tanner Marsh
Today’s corporate leader needs to be half human, half magician. The human factor is fine for dealing with a company’s myriad personalities and expectations, but it’s the magician who must lead a company toward innovation and increased profitability.
In E=MC2 Relative to Business, Johanne Edwards shows the way, and does so using spot-on anecdotal evidence to substantiate each valuable point. But Edwards, sets out to do more than impart solid business sense; she also tackles more than a few of those time-worn misconceptions that hinder a business’s growth, namely the dated Industrial Age culture that maintains its negative grip on the corporate world and continues to perpetuate its outmoded mindset.
The quick-fix solutions favored by this mindset result only in short-term improvements, often with the future hardly considered. Edwards’ suggestion that “business could…move into the Information Age with a problem solving technology that guarantees cost savings versus cost reduction” is reason alone to take notice.
The shelves today are filled with books and manuals for every conceivable business. What is lacking, however, is a book offering a clear and logical road toward achieving real change. Every successful corporate leader understands the necessity for a vision that drives the energy of the company, but how many executives have the skills to develop greater leadership techniques based on emotional and intellectual strength? Even more important, how many executives can execute these changes fearlessly?
E=MC2 Relative to Business discusses the crucial interrelationships of behavioral modeling and problem solving in a logical and straightforward manner, demonstrating a clear understanding of the psychology of the workplace and the constant need for transformation. With corporations facing increased insolvency, not to mention executive malfeasance, these are indeed important lessons to be learned.
